Norfolk Southern Railway #2001 (gray, red, black)
Introduced in 1966, EMD built over 700 GP38 diesels before upgrading the
model as the GP38-2. Still hauling freight on many lines, this new
DCC-ready model is a faithful replica of the stock GP38 and comes with
realistic diecast underframe; five-pole skewed armature motor with dual
flywheels for optimum performance at all speeds; directional lighting;
factory-equipped with AccuMate(R) knuckle couplers; detailed cab interior
with crew; separately installed scale windshield wipers, metal grab irons
and fine scale handrails; movable drop steps; walkway safety tread; coupler
cut bars; and multiple unit hoses and trainline hoses.
In addition, the models also include an optional pilot snowplow and
Electrical cabinet air filter box (ECAFB) added by some roads in later
years. Models will be offered in dynamic and nondynamic versions and will
also feature correct 2600 or 3600 gallon fuel tanks to match their
prototypes.
