This Railway Heritage Models kit is based on the famous Pennsylvania Railroad interlocking tower that still protects the Norfolk Southern mainline in Altoona, Pennsylvania. The Alto Tower model has been back-dated to its golden years (i.e., before it was "modernized") based on research of Pennsy building practices from the 1880s and remnants of architectural features still present on the tower.

Descriptions of the standard Pennsy paint scheme for this type of structure are included with the instructions, along with recent photos for those modelers wishing to represent the modern era. The instructions also include actual-size elevation and floor plan drawings complimented by step-by-step text, tips & techniques and in-progress assembly photos.

This laser-cut kit features micro-plywood exclusively because of its superior durability and resistance to warping. A system of tabs and slots is used to reduce errors in construction and to produce a sturdier model. Self-stick adhesive is applied to allow for quick and easy installation of windows, doors, glazing and trim pieces. There are numerous separate architectural details that have been laser-etched to create a more interesting model. This kits also features custom-made castings from Fine-N-Scale and P&D Marsh of England. Pre-colored shingle roofing material and window glazing are also included.
